FINAL DAYS for 2017-2018 Religious Education Registrations

Saturday, July 8th, 4-6 p.m.

Sunday, July 9th, after all Masses

Stop by the Religious Education office to register your children for classes.

General Formation classes are for grades kindergarten through 5th. These classes are for students that are either too young to be in sacrament preparation or have already received all of their sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist). Below is an explanation of the program:

Kindergarten General Formation:

We encourage parents to enroll their children in religious education as early as Kindergarten. The program that we use is Allelu. Allelu is Christ-centered and captivates the children with a mix of activities, games, prayer time and stories that will help the children seek a relationship with God. For more information on Allelu visit their website at www.allelu.com

First Grade General Formation

Religious education for 1st graders is vital! At Holy Cross, children start preparing for the sacrament of Reconciliation in 2nd grade, therefore if your child receives the basic teachings of the church in the 1st grade it will give them a firm foundation on which to build a deeper understanding of the faith and sacramental life of the church. The program that we use is "Be My Disciples". The "Be My Disciples" program will help your child to grow in the knowledge of their faith and to live as disciples of Jesus. For more information visit www.bemydisciples.com

Second and Third Grade General Formation:

All students in 2nd and 3rd grades are eligible to be in the sacrament class, therefore they will be placed in a Sacrament Preparation Class. However space is limited. If your child is registered late and space is not available in the sacrament preparation class, the coordinator will meet with you and present to you the options that are available. If you have recently moved into Holy Cross's boundaries and you were enrolled in classes in your previous parish, exceptions will apply. Please provide a letter from the director of Religious Education stating that you were enrolled in classes.

Fourth and Fifth Grade General Formation

As parents, we tend to see the reception of Confirmation and First Communion as a "graduation" from religious education. Help your children in the growth of their relationship with God and His church in the most vulnerable stage of their life, adolescence. The program that we use is "Be My Disciples". Continuing religious education after the reception of the sacraments will deepen their relationship with God and help them apply what they have learned in their everyday lives.
